For the past four years, the Green Valley Agricultural Conservancy together with our farmers and volunteers, produced the "Totally Local" Farmers' Market. Each year we worked to improve and to make it an outstanding Green Valley event to share good food, gather and buy your local produce from our dedicated farmers. We want to take this moment and thank all of you who have made this market happen and to all who have continually supported our efforts.

We believe we succeeded in our goals of supporting our local farmers and artisans, bringing quality local products directly to our neighbors and providing a place to gather for our community. We can all pat ourselves on the back for creating a “homegrown” vibrant local market and community gathering place that we dearly cherish. In planning for our fifth year, we reviewed the upcoming market season and talked to vendors and volunteers who have worked diligently to make this market happen over the last 4 years. We were happy to receive such positive feedback from our vendors and our community. Our farmers and artisans, winemakers and musicians, food purveyors and more all agreed it was a huge success and would like to see the market continue into the future. We do too!

As most of you know, the long term vision for the Totally Local market site is to have a permanent building, a “Farmstand”, that features the local produce and artisan products of the region and provides a local gathering place to grab a cup of coffee, a quick meal, your fresh vegetables for the week AND to be the staging ground for the weekly Totally Local farmers market. The Farmstand will be the center of a new Farm, called “The Green Valley Farm Preserve” which is currently being planned.

As the Green Valley Agricultural Conservancy (GVAC) Board reviewed our plans for 2015, it became clear that we needed to turn our energy into the work ahead to fulfill our charter of supporting the next step in Green Valley, which is to help to establish this permanent building and the new Green Valley Farm Preserve (Farm Preserve). We are excited for this dream to become a reality... to have a permanent structure, where our local artisan goods and farm produce will be available every day, and where we can gather on Saturdays at our weeklymarket. The Farm Preserve is the next step to create community, preserve the rural feeling of Green Valley, and support and catalyze our regional farming system.

The GVAC will continue to support our producers, farmers and artisans on our website and Facebook pages by posting updates, special events, and ensuring that our community knows where to find their farmer. We would like all of our friends to visit our farmers at their local stands while we take this opportunity to focus our efforts on making the Farmstand and the Farm Preserve a reality! We will spend 2015 preparing for 2016, and building a place where the community will gather and be able to purchase wonderful local produce and hand crafted products in Green Valley!

Please watch our Facebook and Website page for our special Fall Festival event, September 27th. More information will be forthcoming! Many thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm and support....and please look forward to exciting happenings for Green Valley in 2016!!
